A new reality for enhanced visitor experiences to museums

Flick Software releases version 2.0 of its Mobile Interactive Guide

OTTAWAFlick Software today announced that it has released version 2.0 of the Mobile Interactive Guide specifically designed to enhance the museum visitor experience.

Gaining market momentum, the unique software approach offered by the Mobile Interactive Guide provides flexibility in scalability and deployment not offered by existing hardware and content management options. "Our software approach means museums can choose the handheld device that best suits their environment and add additional devices whenever the need arises without being bound to proprietary hardware and content management vendors," said Jason Flick, President and Founder of Flick Software. "Device independence is an important feature that allows museums to future proof against the rapid handheld device changes occurring today."

The core of the Mobile Interactive Guide is its powerful content management engine that allows museums to leverage their current and past investments and easily manage their own content for intuitive access by visitors using a handheld PC. This includes native format audio, video, Flash, HTML and more with no requirements for conversion.

The evolution of audio is the fully interactive, multimedia, mobile guide

The modular architecture offered by the Mobile Interactive Guide provides the capabilities to readily scale with an organization’s exhibit additions and changes, and budget. Modules can be added over time that enrich content delivery and promote visitor interaction, including:

Interactive tours

Interactive maps

Games, quizzes and activities

Location-based visitor experience feedback

E-commerce capabilities

Bookmark areas and exhibits of interest

Visitor website relationships for pre and post visit interactions

Flick Software’s Multimedia Interactive Guide extends the visitor experience through multiple interactions and sustains that interaction beyond the physical and audio tour. Enhanced visitor interaction will enable museums to better understand visitor preferences, and areas of interest to create even more compelling displays and exhibits.

The company will be showcasing the new product features at the upcoming American Association of Museums MuseumEXPO in Boston April 27th through May 1st, 2006.
